Yes, I love the movie Frozen.

There is a reason why this is the top animated film in history: It is Disney doing what only Disney does best when Disney gets it right.

This was Disney not trying to be Pixar or DreamWorks or anybody else. This was a true DISNEY movie from a project that went all the way back to the earliest days of the studio. Time after time the Disney empire tried to make a go of the Snow Queen story. Give them an A for persistence, as they kept coming back to the project. This time the stars aligned.

Lovely animation, touching story, lots of humor, and some songs you can’t get out of your head.

This is a movie with a great big ol’ heart that is retro-cool because it doesn’t try for snarky or self-aware or edgy or anything other than classic heart-warming entertainment. It is a movie I could take my granddaughter and my wife to catch and both enjoy it.

It is about love between royal sisters, Elsa and Anna. Elsa has a gift/curse of uncontrolled magical powers over ice and snow — and will exile herself rather than hurt anyone (especially Anna). Anna will do anything to save Elsa, no matter the danger.

The story works because you come to care about both of them.

The official YouTube clip of “Let it Go” has 214,813,098 views and the soundtrack has been #1 for an amazing three solid months. There is a reason why I have watched that clip at least 50 times. It is an amazing piece of animation coupled with Idina Menzel’s powerful voice singing a tune worthy of her talents.

Amid all of the stark ice and snow, this is a movie about the redeeming power of love. It is a movie where even a snowman hopes for a warm hug.

See it. Buy it. It might even make a good Mother’s Day gift.
