Mass Effect 2’s DLC points system just cost them a sale.

June 15, 2010

I took an interest in buying the new DLC for Mass Effect 2 (Overlord), but has decided to put it on hold after dealing with their sales system. First I had to log into my account (forgot the password), then put in the correct one and it didn’t take. So, I logged out and logged in again, then went to actually try to buy the silly download. They wanted to sell me 800 points for $10, to buy a download priced at 560 points! So, of course, I get to overpay and then HOPE that someday I need something again that comes to EXACTLY the 240 points left in the account. This is highly unlikely.

I emailed to gripe about this policy and tell them that they had a sale cancel literally at the checkout line due to this rip-off “point” system.

Update on Norton Utilities 14 and Windows 7 bug (fixed?)

June 6, 2010

I blogged a while back about how Norton Utilities 14 would KILL a Windows 7 installation if you used the registry cleaner function. I was recently visiting with Norton tech support on another topic and assured that this bug has been fixed. I haven’t had the courage to try it on my own Win7x64 machine to see if it works yet. If anyone else has done so, please let me know.
