Fallout 3 tip #2

Here are some of the items you need to try to hang onto because others will pay you more for them or they are useful in optional quests:

Sheet music book. You need one to trade to Agnes the violin player in an optional quest. The first one you will likely find is in Springvale School. Save it until you do Agnes’ quest.

Scrap metal: You can get 10 caps each for it from Walter in Megaton, trade it for items like grenades from the leader of Brotherhood Outcasts, or get Stimpacks from one of the ghouls in Underworld.

Sensor Modules: Trade them with the Brotherhood Outcast leader for things like grenades. The Brotherhood Outcast leader will also take scrap metal, power armor, and energy weapons. NOTE: He often gets killed by monsters or raiders in this area. When he dies, you can get all of your stuff back. Anything damaged you sold him is now in perfect repair.

Blood Packs: The ‘vampires’ in the Arafu mission will buy them at a premium.

Sugar Bombs: Can be traded for caps with a ghoul making ultra-jet.

Strange meat: Take it to the Lamplight caverns. One of the kids will trade for it.

Nuka Cola Quantums: You need to collect 30 of these for a quest. Save any others you find to make Nuka Bombs once you have the schematic.

Many items are used to make improvised weapons, once you have the schematics and enough parts: These include Abraxo Cleanser, Turpentine, Rad Scorpion venom glands, Toy Cars, Paint Guns, Vacuum Cleaners, Lawn mower blades, etc. Lists of all of the improvised weapons and the parts are here:

I kicked myself for drinking Nuka Cola Quantums earlier in the game before I know they had value in a quest and custom weapon-making.
